I have three daughters. They are 12, 15, 18.
Several years ago I thought I was fat at 135 pounds. One day I looked in the mirror and thought, "Ugh, I'm so fat!"
In that moment, I had a realization that if I sincerely wanted my girls to look in the mirror and love their refection, I had to learn how to do it first. I had to be authentic when I said,
"Believe you are beautiful inside and out!"
So my journey began.
I am and have been a registered nurse for 20 years. Health has always mattered to me. I am also a certified life coach through Martha Beck's Program (who I found through O magazine years ago - so O magazine changed my life and I just realized it in this moment!) and The Life Coach School.
I did all the work to learn to love myself. It was a journey of changing my beliefs. The journey has changed my life in so many ways. I tell this story to explain my why began because I wanted my girls to have an example of self love that was more than lip service.
In that process, I learned when you actually do love and believe in yourself, your entire life soars to the next level.
So my Wellness Why is :
To be an example of that energy/presence in the world that you want to see and feel.
To experience more joy in life than worry; more confidence than self doubt; and more acceptance of the present moment as it is, than wishing it different.
As my work in the world moves me more into my coaching career, my passion is coaching moms with daughters to learn how to live the Wellness Whys listed above.
I have a passion to reset the mother/daughter relationship. I am very close to my girls and I have learned that my worth does not have to be a direct correlation to how they are feeling and doing. I trust their battles are for them and not evidence that I have failed.
This is my mission
To teach other moms as well - or at least the moms that want to experience parenting this way! My husband was reading O and told me to submit this. I am grateful!
