How Heavy is 10 pounds?


This seems like an easy question to answer. 10 pounds is 10 pounds.

But how heavy is it to you?


If 10 pounds stops you first thing in the morning when you catch your reflection and whispers in your ear, “Ugh…I’m so fat,” and then it controls how you carry yourself the rest of the day, then 10 pounds is very very heavy.


When you get dressed and your clothes don’t fit quite like you think they should and that prevents you from standing up in a meeting at work and contributing the way you know you can, then 10 pounds is very very heavy.


If your daughters hear you say that you need to lose 10 pounds when you already have a healthy BMI and that is what it is teaching them to think about their bodies too, then 10 pounds is very very heavy.


So what to do about this?


Lose 10 pounds? Maybe that would work. But probably not really.


Find a lighter state of mind, and your body will become lighter in ways I can’t even describe.
